Excellent alternative to Bento and Filemaker Pro - I'm an independent editorial project manager. I have a complex project database in Filemaker Pro and I used to manage less complicated ancillary data - invoices, client contacts and so on - in Bento, since it synced with my iPhone and integrated Apple's Reminders Calendar and Contacts. Now Filemaker Inc. What is a blackberry playbook used for. has stripped Bento of its most valuable features (it will soon stop syncing with Reminders, Tasks and Contacts) and I'm finding that Tap Forms is a really good replacement. Although it's not as eye-candyish as Bento, it has significantly greater functionality -- in that it is a relational database (Bento is not), it syncs with Contacts (Bento is removing this feature), and it is far more customizable. And I always thought Bento's templates were garish and limiting anyway. Plus, Tap Forms syncs via iCloud so I can access everything from my desktop, iPhone and iPad. This is a BIG advantage over Filemaker Pro, which does not sync - you have to copy your database from device to device, and risk a lot of tricky version control issues. I would recommend Tap Forms for managing most tasks that do not require lots of complex calculations or applescript integration. Really nice job.

I’ll be going now - Update: As you can read I got away from Tap Forms awhile back due to sync issues etc. Well, I came back to give it another try, and as of today, all of my saved files are gone. This time, gone for good._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I really like the concept of this app, and have been using it for months, both business and personal. The syncing has always been a little wonky, but I have worked through that, until today. Today the syncing cost me a significant spreadsheet. Shame on me for not having an independent backup. I’ve lost data before that I have recovered, but it looks like I’m out of luck this time. I’ll be moving to another app. I’ll be monitoring this app, and hope to return someday, but for now, I must be going ..

Decent app - I have used this app for a couple of years now and it has always worked as advertised. iCloud sync works great. When the developer released version 5 he dropped iCloud sync for no reason whatsoever. I can understand dropping DropBox if DropBox was no longer supporting such applications, but there was no reason for dropping iCloud. As I mentioned, I have never had any problems with iCloud syncing. I will not sign up for a paid service to sync. Even if I never used enough data to be charged by IBM, I do not like having my credit card information unnecessarily stored by online entities.The WiFi sync is an option for version 5, but it is inconvenient. When the developer returns iCloud syncing to Tap Forms, then I will upgrade.I would give this 4 stars if it weren’t for the syncing omission in version 5.

Good functionality…until you can’t use it anymore?? - I paid $50 for this app. I bought it because I needed a tool to help me track mileage for business and taxes. Once I bought a new iphone and had to setup sync again, I learned that I needed to “Upgrade to the newest version”. So, I’m looking for an update and the only one is BUY THE NEWEST VERSION FOR ANOTHER $50. I already bought your program! I don’t get any additional support for that cost?

THE BEST easy database available to use in a MAC - everyone should get the new TapForms5 - (Updated review) >>>> (much better than the old BENTO)Its a great app, I Transferred everything from Bento few years ago.. but only began to really use TAPFORMS last year.. so I got the new version TapForms5. (from their website ..thats why im updating the review here and not on the updated version) for sure its THE BEST easy database available to use in a MAC. (great for a personal use and also for small business.)And the customer service is great. Brendan Duddridge replied sooner than I expected and solved my issues, answered questions. Never had a custumer service so helpful as this one! And I love the fact that i can transfer data to iphne and iPad without using iCloud .. I love the chance to make different layouts so I can create different forms to print.One thing that was awesome was being able to use a form that is from another company (that we have business with and we have to fill often each time with info from different records). I scanned the form and added it on the new layout as a different layer and then add the TapForms field over the image. So I put the 'official forms' on the paper tray of my printer and Tap forms help me filling the forms. Great TOOL!!!! (this would be only better if the check box had the option to chose 'not to print the square' only the check mark … because on that its impossible to match the same size of the checkbox to the one on the image.)

Doesn’t sync consistently - The app works at first, then over time degrades and becomes unusable. The developer wants you to solve the problem by purchasing their new apps. Stay away from this company. They should just charge a premium for their app instead of using the model of upgrading you to a working version of their software.

Keep doing what you love.. - Brendan Duddridge has to be the most dedicated developer for his app. Tap Forms has been around over ten (10) years. And Brendan has helped me along the way. I recall I have had questions over the years (Yes, More than once) and Brendan has helped every time. Within these past few days I had to ask for suggestions with an issue involving the 'Encryption Key'. When I say these past few days, it was December 20 and December 21, 2018, Brendan has been right there to help. Try to get any other personalized help during the week prior a Major Holiday (Christmas) with any other app. You might expect to wait several days for any other support. Brendan was there, like clockwork, within a reasonable time frame to offer his assistance.Remember since Tap Forms has been available more than ten (10) years, that means the devices Operating System has also been modified and improved for the same number of years. Modifications in an Operating System, usually means modifications as well within an applications Code.There also is a time in any application's life span that it's just 'plain easier' to start over with fresh Coding rather than try to put patches into place to make the original code simulate the more robust Operating System functionality that is now running on most of our devices.Why not start with New Code to take advantage of all those enhancements and functionality from the Operating System, especially for a DataBase application. Tap Forms has even assisted existing BENTO users when Bento had given up. Tap Forms has resurrected or incorporated Bento's form importing into a viable option and means of using those existing forms within Tap Forms database. So in other words, quit complaining about the cost. There is 50% cost reduction for existing users of the Tap Forms application. Pull up your big boy pants and help out such a dedicated Developer do what obviously is his passion. It's so easy to sit back and complain. Open you eyes and realize what you have and will continue to get. I'm sure, Brendan has that same vision and drive to make his database application happen with the latest and greatest of device Operating Systems. I will always love and use Tap Forms as my favorite DataBase organization tool. Keep doing what you love, Brendan. Thanks much..
